“Why did Waverly send us here again?”  Napoleon asked his partner who had his nose buried in the file.

“Napoleon, will you ever read the mission reports?”  Illya angrily asked.

“I heard what he said but can’t believe it.”

“Okay, let me go over it again. Since 1962 Louisiana closed hunting for alligators in order to allow them to flourish and replenish their numbers.  Within the last couple of months, a major number of alligators have disappeared and the increase of produces became available for sale.”  Illya read from the mission report.

“There has always been poaching and sale of alligator items, so I don’t understand what’s is so special about this time?”

“Each sale is bringing in thousands of dollars, and Edward Crocker is the main seller of these items,” Illya explained.

“The Edward Crocker who is the head of Thrush here?” Napoleon asked.

“The same.  The increase of Thrush activity has increased since this has begun.  Our mission is to see what is going on, and if needed put a stop to it.   Perhaps I wouldn’t need to go over this, if you had read yourself,” Illya answered frustrated at his partner’s dependence on him to relying on his information.

As they disembarked from the plane, Napoleon took a deep breath.  “Well, partner, let’s go find some alligator belts.”

Statistics: minimum 100 words, no maximum.

Why Kuryakin followed his partner on his off-duty adventures was a mystery to him...of course there was always the reason that Napoleon needed protection from others as well as himself at times.

When not off in pursuit of women Solo was often interested in acquiring a new article of clothing.

This was one of those times and in of all places, New Orleans at the start of Mardi Gras.

Two U.N.C.L.E. agents, dressed entirely in black to conceal them in the darkness, carefully paddled their way through the New Orleans Bayou. Napoleon and Illya were in a black, two-man kayak, and were using muffled oars in effort to avoid detection by the man they were following. The blond, who was in the front seat, had even covered his hair in a black wool hat to prevent the light from the waxing moon from showing it up.

“Hey, we’re going to New Orleans!”

Illya Kuryakin looked up from his typewriter and was met with the beaming face of his partner. Napoleon seemed to be far too excited over a mission to Louisiana.

“Although, we might be there for over three weeks,” Solo continued.

He seemed a little less enamoured about that particular detail.

“We have been to New Orleans before,” Illya told him. “Why does this assignment warrant such enthusiasm?”

“Because, my dear Tovarisch Kuryakin, it’s Mardi Gras. You know what that means.”

“Gumbo,” Illya replied, almost yearningly.

“I was thinking women but, whatever floats your boat."
